AV receivers?? along with setup?? by UnKoWn2 on Mon Jan 11, 2010 12:55 am
Alright so a family member suprised me this holiday season with a Denon avr-589. So this thing has more screws loose than a studebaker. first I realized after about an hour in that the receiver doesnt draw audio from the hdmi cables, but only video. So I had to hook up some digital op cables for sound. Now the thing doesnt seem like its loud enough at -20db's. and on top of that the whole interface is fucked. I mean not user friendly, Im confused as to what input goes for which component (i.e. cable box, ps3, etc.) and now it looses power at any random time and shuts off.

So tomorrow morning along with my other errands im gonna pack this bad boy up and ship it back, instead im gonna go looking for a replacement, probably either a yamaha or onkyo that has a more standardized setup and easy-to-use user interface.

gimme your thoughts guys, and your insight on setup/installation, cause after today boys I want this whole ordeal to be done with already

Have you tried Call of Juarez??? by Joker on Wed Aug 12, 2009 11:55 am
Some say that the FPS (first person shooter) genre is over played and highly saturated with way too many games, and I wholeheartedly agree with them. However, its not always that something can rise up from the watered down market and float on top as something worth talking about. That's just what Call of Juarez has down.

Borrowing something from the Army of Two game, this game allows you to play as one of two brothers; Ray or Thomas. You can only select one brother to use in each chapter, and they both offer different abilities that are potentially better suited for different scenarios. Ray is the brute, Thomas the more finese character. Ray will charge into a situation with his double pistols, dynamite, rifle, or gatlin gun. Whereas Thomas will use his single pistol, rifle, knives, bow and rope to get an advantage spot to pluck you off.

They've also thrown in a couple of cool little "mini-games" into the chaos that is the Wild West! There's a "Concentration Mode"...

We should have kept playing Warhawk. by PAYBACK-Brock on Fri Jul 31, 2009 10:14 pm
On a whim I decided to start up Warhawk on my PS3. I was actually itching for some CTF action.
I've forgotten how fun this game actually was! What's most surprising was that A TON OF PEOPLE STILL play. I was racking up kills playing defense with the Tank, shooting Warhawks out of the air np np. After I got bored with defense, I took to the skies in the Warhawk. Single handedly took over the whole map with the plane. By the way, Pro Flight is the way to go.

I'm not going to lobby to have Warhawk clan nights, but I do know that there are a number of PAYBACKers who have the game, perhaps sometimes we should get together to play a game or two. It really is a fun game, hell we were pretty damn good when we played competitively. Remember our bouts with Red October? Ha!

Hit me up if you're interested.

Shoulda coulda woulda by Anonymous on Wed Jul 29, 2009 2:34 am
I suppose I should update the blog a bit, so let's get to it.

First subject: SOCOM

SOCOM: Confrontation has not yet received it's highly anticipated patch as of 7/29/09. The SOCOM.com blog hasn't been updated in almost a month, I guess this patch won't come out until its ready, but it's taking a very very long time. I'm willing to bet the patch will be released sometime late August. And that's being rather conservative too. I couldn't make it to this week's clan night because I had work, and I had to take care of my sick fiancee. I'll be on playing the rest of the week though, so keep an eye out for me on PSN. Text if you will, we can get some games going.

Second subject: Television programming!

I'm not much of a TV person, but it doesn't mean I don't like it. I don't watch many shows at all, hell my Facebook profile only lists one show under favorites, and it's House. I usually work evening hours so I don't...

star wars: the force unleashed by PAYBACK-FAY on Sun Jun 14, 2009 5:34 pm
note: i wrote these notes the night that i beat the game (about 2 weeks ago) and never posted them. they arent as coherent as my normal posts but here they are. enjoy.

Beat star wars: the force unleashed and I have plenty to say about the game.

Music is well done
Graphics are fine
The environments are very different with each planet/ship you explore
The bosses all have different techniques
Costume keeps changing with the task you must complete and the environment you are in
Visually pretty nice. Some of the colors were yuckie. Like on the alien planet.
Don’t lose life when you fall but if you fall off a platform and into space you die. No force power to bring yourself back to the platform.
What is the point of having force grip when it makes you vulnerable to attacks from enemies and mostly all enemies are immune to it.
End: I did the evil vengeful ending by killing vader. Unfulfilling and stupid. I wanted my character to commit to being e...
