Birthday Weekend Recap

Permanent Linkby SXE on Mon May 04, 2009 12:50 pm

First I just wanna thank all the clan guys who called/texted/facebooked and posted on the site with birthday wishes...it's greatly appreciated!!

So ya, I turned 26 this weekend, Sunday to be exact. For the most part the weekend was pretty quiet. Saturday ill came over in the evening with my present. He was so excited for it he decided to give it to me as soon as he showed up. He then presented me with a brand new model rocket, along with new launch pad and launch controller and 2 G engines! This rocket and everything else involved is super high powered...moreso than anything else he and I had ever built or launched before. We spent the rest of the evening building the launch pad, which stands at 6 feet 2 inches (!) and the launch controller...which was VERY new to us. We actaully had to build the entire thing from scratch including all the electrical wiring...we had to solder shit!! Once we completed that I opened my family's gift to me: a portable nav screen for my car...very...

Only 1 post for April?

...and BARELY April at that!

yikes. Sorry gang, it's been awhile, I've been trying to get an entry in but I've had a tough time coming up with topics to write about. I'm still not sure I do, but I really wanted to get something in this space so here we go:

It's looking like my soccer schedule is looking to change. My Thursday team is switching to Tuesday, with my Tuesday team done indefinitely. That should free up Thursdays again to podcast or just play games with the clan on a very popular clan night.

Lumines on PSN is awesome. I've hit my moment of zen on it this past week, finally hitting/unlocking all skins in one of the 3 main modes in the game. The game is a hugely fun puzzle game where you have to match up 4 of the same colors in a square to delete the block. Sounds easy, but it does take some getting used to. It's taken me several months to finally reach the level I'm at with it now in terms of understanding and how I break down where I want blocks to fall and the results...

Resident Evil 5, Guitar Hero: Metallica, podcast, etc

Permanent Linkby SXE on Mon Mar 30, 2009 12:43 pm

Hey all,

I'm back...sadly it took me a little longer than I wanted to get back for a second post, but here it is. So lately I've put in a lot of time into beating Resident Evil 5 several times over. The game's new mechanic is it's co-op gameplay, both offline split screen, online, or single player with an AI partner. I've played the game through 4-5 times now, each time beating it with a clan member, and each time really enjoying it. I won't go into detail here, this week's podcast is all about the game so you can find my thoughts on it there, but I have been enjoying it greatly. Capcom really nailed the online co-op experience. It's really easy to hook up with a friend and play together, with crystal clear mics and no lag....a rarity in the online gaming space still. The game is less fun by yourself, because you're never by yourself these days, thanks to the AI buddy who is never as smart or enjoyable as a real life buddy. The replay value on the game is REALLY high with...

IT'S BACK!!!!

Permanent Linkby SXE on Wed Mar 11, 2009 1:56 pm

Hey gang!

So Joker made a new website for us. Along with that, he fixed the blogs, so now Ican actually access my blog and post again!!!

So I just wanted to make a quick post here to say more is def on the way...hopefully getting back to my weekly format. lately I've been playing Socom: Confrontation, Street Fighter 4, Killzone 2, Flower, Magic Ball, Sonic's Sega Genesis Collection, Zuma, and Bejeweled 2. All of these games are a ton of fun. I've become a big fan of the PSN and its titles. They provide a great experience for a smaller cost and don't take as much of my time; I can hop in and out easier than other, bigger titles. Anyways I just wanted to stop in, say hi, that more is on the way soon, and get out there and try all of these games!!

Recent Game Purchases, Mostly Retro

Permanent Linkby SXE on Fri Oct 17, 2008 11:36 am

Hey everyone,

So recently I've gone on one of my binges to pick up games. I tend to buy in bunches, espescially when, like on this occasion, they're older games. One trip to ebay or amazon can turn into a shopping spree on the wrong (or right) day. This past 10 days has seen such an occurance.

Late last week I was out with my cousin at a Gamestop where I went to pick up one of the few recent releases on my list, Yakuza 2 for the PS2. Having never played the first one, but hearing great things about both that and this release I decided to jump in for the hell of it. I'm glad I did too, because the game is great. While the graphics look well behind late PS2 releases, it doesn't bother me. The rest of the game, it's atmosphere, characters, setting, etc are all very well crafted and framed in this universe. It's very heavy on Japanese culture, which I know nothing about, but don't mind at all. It's surprisingly open when in the sprawling cities, letting you walk all over, talking...
